Victoria and Albert Museum Strawberry Thief Coir Doormat
The intricate “Strawberry Thief,” with its mischievous birds––juicy berries dangling from their beaks––is inspired by one of the most iconic works of the 19th century by great champion of the Arts and Crafts Movement, William Morris (1834-96), who based his design on the thrushes he saw stealing strawberries from the grounds of Kelmscott Manor, his Oxfordshire home.
